Why nose-to-tail

Muscle meat alone leaves gaps.

Retinol and copper from liver. Collagen from connective tissue. Omega-3s from seafood. Choline from eggs. APEX turns eating the whole animal into a daily 0–100 score, so you close those gaps without counting a single macro.

The case for meat

We didn't invent this diet.
We remembered it.

Humans hunted, thrived and built brains on animal foods for millions of years. Here's what people report when they return to it — and the history behind the movement.

What people report

🎯Radical simplicity

One rule — eat animal foods. No counting, no tracking apps at dinner, no decision fatigue.

🥩Deep satiety

Protein and fat are the most filling nutrients there are. Cravings and constant snacking often simply fade.

🔬An elimination reset

Strip everything back and your body tells you exactly which foods were causing bloating, skin or gut trouble.

Steady energy

Near-zero sugar and starch means the spike-and-crash rollercoaster disappears. One fuel, all day.

💪Built for muscle

Effectively a maximum-protein diet — the ideal recovery fuel for strength training.

🧬Nutrient density

B12, haem iron, zinc, creatine, carnosine, omega-3s and retinol — all easiest (or only possible) to get from animals.

Honesty corner: these are commonly reported experiences, not guarantees — long-term studies are still limited, and health contexts differ. Speak to a professional before a major change.

The story of meat

2.6 million years ago The first butchers

Cut-marked bones show our ancestors butchering large animals millions of years before farming existed. Hunting wasn't a side hustle — isotope studies of Ice Age humans place them among the top carnivores of their world. Meat is the original human food.

For millennia The peoples who lived it

The Inuit built vigorous lives on fish, seal and whale in a land with almost no edible plants. The Maasai of East Africa raised warriors on milk, meat and blood from their cattle. Early researchers repeatedly documented both as strikingly robust — on diets that were almost entirely animal.

1928 · New York The Bellevue experiment

Arctic explorer Vilhjalmur Stefansson swore he'd lived for years on meat alone with the Inuit. Doctors didn't believe him — so he and colleague Karsten Anderson spent a full year eating only meat under medical supervision at Bellevue Hospital. Both men finished the year in good health, and the results were published in a leading journal.

Today The modern return

Hundreds of thousands of people are rediscovering animal-based eating — for simplicity, for elimination, for performance. What's new isn't the diet. It's that now you can measure it: nose-to-tail scores, nutrient reports, energy diaries. That's why APEX exists.

Facts worth knowing

Vitamin B12 exists naturally only in animal foods — there is no plant source.

Human stomach acid is dramatically stronger than most omnivores' — closer to that of dedicated meat-eaters and scavengers.

Fresh meat prevents scurvy. Polar explorers stayed scurvy-free for years on meat alone — lightly cooked meat preserves its vitamin C.

Liver is the most concentrated natural source of vitamin A on earth — nature's original multivitamin.

Beef delivers creatine and carnosine — performance compounds plants simply don't make.

A ribeye is effectively zero-carb — its blood-sugar impact barely registers.

Questions, answered

Is APEX free?

The core app is free to explore. APEX Pro unlocks everything — see the Go Pro page for plans. Cancel anytime.

Strict or relaxed — which am I?

Strict is meat, salt and water. Relaxed adds dairy, spices, the odd berry or a spoon of honey. The Recipes page has a switcher for each — start relaxed, tighten if you want to.

Does it really work offline?

Yes. Once installed, the whole app — recipes, workouts, your tracker — runs with no connection. Photos load when you're back online.

Where is my data stored?

Your plates, streaks, workout plans and progress live on your own device. Nothing is uploaded unless you submit a story.

Is this medical advice?

No. APEX is for information and inspiration only. A fully carnivore diet is a significant change — speak to a qualified professional first, especially with any health condition.
